Abstract

The influences of caffeine and theophylline on the morphine-induced increase of plasma corticosterone level in mice were studied.
The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. Various doses (10mg, 30mg, 50mg and 100mg/kg) of caffeine gradually increased the plasma corticosterone level, especially 50mg/kg and 100mg/kg dose treatments. markedly increased the levels.
2. Various doses (10mg, 30mg, 50mg and 100mg/kg) of theophylline gradually increased the plasma corticosterone level, especially 50mg/kg and 100mg/kg dose treatment markedly increased the levels, and in 100mg/kg dose treatment, theophylline is more potent than caffeine.
3. Plasma corticosterone level was significantly increased by morphine 10mg/kg.
4. The morphine-induced increase of plasma corticosterone level was potentiated by caffeine and theophylline respectively.
